When an e-mail showed up in my inbox from a local writer who was looking to create some “odd” portraits, I jumped at the chance. I sat down with Marc Lynch for a quick beer at Two House Brewing and quickly learned he is one of the true eccentrics of this world. We talked about everything from his upcoming published book, to how we both like to leave room for creativity to stretch it’s legs, to how simply the idea of a flat earth could put someone’s mind into a rather strange place of questioning reality.
I asked Marc a question I was dying to ask a real writer: “Does being a writer mean just writing and re-writing and re-writing? Is it as much of a grind as it seems to be?”
His simple answer was yes, but he suggests working on multiple projects at once. Letting each one have time to breathe so you can come back to it with fresh eyes. This made sense and I’ve since put this advice to work.
I suggested we create something surreal for his portraits, citing the photography of Salvidor Dali as a starting inspirational point. I wanted to give Marc a wide variety of works to show his multi-faceted personality and open energy. The shoots were tremendous fun! I look forward to reading his upcoming works!
